8/31/2023 0 Comments Half life echoes ending![]() The colour of your surroundings begins to fade, the brilliant reds and yellows of the explosion turning to greys and whites. “Time, Doctor Freeman?” A deep voice echoes as if from nowhere. The explosion is caught in a freeze-frame, Alyx suspended in mid-air, and a deathly silence falls over the City 17. Just as the monstrous fireball threatens to engulf the top of the Citadel, everything stops. The force of the explosion lifts Alyx off her feet. “Come on Gordon,” says Alyx, turning to face you. ”You need me.” Sparks begin to fly from ruins of the reactor, and a high-pitched whistle threatens to crescendo. “No.” growls Breen, his distorted voice amplified from within the collapsing orb. Far below, City 17 is alight with the fires of the uprising. ![]() The silvery-blue orb now hovering at the peak of the Citadel’s reactor is fluctuating ominously, emitting dazzling shockwaves into the twilight. ![]() In the upcoming mod Half-Life: Through The City, Shephard is awakened by the G-Man and is teleported to City 17 during the early stages of The Uprising.“You fool! You don’t know what you’ll unleash! You could bring down this whole Citadel - think, man, think of the people below!” Grigori's use of the serum would turn him into a mutated zombie, forcing Shephard to face off with him and presumably kill Grigori. Taking place prior to Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Shephard was deployed to Ravenholm by the G-Man (for reasons unknown) where he met with Father Grigori, who was trying to find an immunity to the Headcrab toxin that turns people into Headcrabs. Shephard was to appear in a cancelled Half-Life game with the working titles Half-Life 2: Episode Four and Return to Ravenholm, in which he would have featured as the playable protagonist. A disappointed G-Man punishes Shephard by banishing him to another dimension, which later turns out to be home to the Race X. Shephard later joins the survivors when he deduces that the G-Man was the mastermind behind the incident, and allows them to escape through a portal while he holds off the G-Man's agents. In the short story Half-Life: Chronicles, Shephard is deployed by G-Man to eliminate survivors of the Black Mesa Incident who are attempting to flee the United States. His name may be a homage to the Opposing Force protagonist, Adrian Shephard. He committed suicide with a grenade in order to avoid capture by the Combine. In the short movie, Beyond Black Mesa, there is a character named "Adrian Shephard", who seems to be a young Resistance member, adept of martial arts. In Half-Life: Echoes, the player begins having numerous visions and one involves an osprey coming into view where the G-Man is talking to Shepherd during the ending of Half-Life: Opposing Force. There are a few inconsistencies between both games however. ![]() This is parallel to the events of Half-Life: Opposing Force, where Shephard disarms the bomb after a group of Black Ops grunts are arming it. He is also the main protagonist of the Half Life 2 mod Awakening, where he is responsible for unleashing the Antlions upon the world, posing problems to the CombineĪdrian Shephard may have had a cameo in Half-Life: Black Ops, as the player character Declan Walker attempts to escape Black Mesa after arming a nuclear warhead the wounded Declan sees Shephard appear and disarm the bomb before leaving. In the ending to Sweet Half-Life, Adrian Shephard is seen isolated on a Xen island with his crashed Osprey along with a radio and campfire after being left by the G-Man, a UFO appears before the curious Shephard and as he approaches the ship, a mysterious HEV suit-wearing character appears and takes him elsewhere. Shephard can be seen in the distance standing before collapsing during the conflict between the marines and the aliens. Shephard's Osprey is witnessed to crash just like the beginning of Opposing Force. Shephard also appears during Point of View, a semi-sequel to Azure Sheep which takes place during the events of the game but through the perspective of a Vortigaunt. This situation deviates from the Opposing Force as it doesn't fit into any part of that game. However Shephard ends up being abducted by Vortigaunts and vanishes, which results in the HECU returning to being hostile. Later on he briefly teams up with Barney which results in the HECU marines becoming friendly. He is first seen when entering a portal at the Lambda Complex. Shephard appears in the Half-Life mod Azure Sheep as an NPC and can interact with the player Barney and speaks. ![]()
